About us
Established in 2013, the Aghada Centre Theatre Group is a vibrant, community-driven theatre and musical society based in East Cork. With members ranging in age from seven to 77, the group proudly showcases local talent through dynamic productions, from heartfelt dramas to lively musicals. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community, Aghada Centre Theatre Group offers opportunities for both experienced performers and newcomers to shine.
Over the past decade, the dedication of our cast, crew and committee has seen the group present Ten sell-out musical productions and two popular plays, while raising over €85,000 for local and national charities.
This year has been particularly memorable. We were proudly represented by Fiona O’Callaghan and Clara Dunlea at the AIMS 60th Anniversary Ovation Concert in the Convention Centre Dublin. Members also travelled nationwide supporting fellow societies and took part in television recordings with RTÉ and TG4. It Takes a Village aired again this year, with two new documentaries airing in the New Year — Irish Blue Blouses and Museum In Me, showcasing participants of all ages.
We were also delighted to receive seven AIMS nominations for last year’s production of Me and My Girl, with Jan O’Sullivan winning Best Overall Supporting Actress. Celebrating our successes at the AIMS Awards in the INEC, Killarney was a truly memorable weekend.
Our year concluded with a fantastic annual fundraiser, welcoming Hub Cap Theatre with Mary’s Hopes and Dreams, complemented by an outstanding opening performance from our own cast. With continued creativity, collaboration and community support, Aghada Centre Theatre Group remains a proud cornerstone of cultural life in East Cork.
